Waivers
When a requirement of your application cannot be met, the Minister may waive it.
Where good cause is shown, the Minister can waive certain visa requirements in the applicant’s favour. Waivers can be requested for requirements of temporary residence visas and permanent residence permits.
Once the waiver is issued, the visa application itself can proceed. Waivers are granted at the discretion of the Department of Home Affairs.
When a waiver is needed
- A key foreign employee needs a General Work Visa without a labour certificate from the Department of Labour.
- An investor wants to open a business but does not have the cash capital Home Affairs requires; the amount can be waived or reduced.
- A foreign parent needs a visa to care for a minor child who is a citizen or permanent resident.
- Any other immigration requirement that cannot be provided.
