Spousal and Life Partner Visa

For the spouse or long-term partner of a South African citizen or permanent resident.

If you are legally married to a South African citizen or permanent resident, you may qualify for a Spousal Visa under the Immigration Act. South African law recognises both heterosexual and homosexual marriages.

Recognises
Opposite-sex and same-sex marriages and relationships
Spousal visa validity
Up to 2 years

Life partner visas

South African law also recognises well-established heterosexual and homosexual relationships. If you can show a long-term relationship with a South African citizen or permanent resident, you may qualify for a Life Partner Visa. We can help you obtain all the legal documentation needed to support your application.

Want to work or study too?

A Spousal Visa does not allow you to work, study or run a business. If you need to, the Section 11(6) visa may be the better route.
