Intra-Company Transfer Work Visa
For employees of multinational companies moving to a South African branch.
Multinational companies sometimes transfer an existing employee from a foreign branch to a branch in South Africa. These employees apply for an Intra-Company Transfer Work Visa. In this case, no proof is needed of the steps taken to find a South African citizen or permanent resident for the role.
- Validity
- Up to 4 years
- Renewal
- Cannot be renewed or extended in South Africa
Validity and further assignments
The visa is issued for a period of no more than four years and cannot be renewed or extended.
Where an assignee has completed four years and the South African branch, subsidiary or affiliate still needs their services, a new intra-company transfer work visa must be applied for. The application is made at the South African mission in the applicant’s country of origin or permanent residence, and a new visa of up to four years may be granted if all the prescribed requirements are met.
