Short-Term Work Visa, Section 11(2)

A visitor’s visa with authorisation to carry out specific work in South Africa.

A Section 11(2) visitor’s visa authorises the holder to conduct work in South Africa for three months. In terms of regulation 11(7)(e), read with section 11(1)(a) of the Immigration Act, an extension of a further 90 days may be applied for.

A further 90 days may be applied for in South Africa

Why companies use it

It is a useful strategy when foreign workers need to come to South Africa to carry out specific work without meeting the longer requirements of a typical work visa.

It can also be a first step for a company that is still deciding how to position itself in the South African market.
